Enoh Meyomesse, Cameroonian writer and blogger was arrested on November 22, 2011 at Nsimalen airport in Yaounde, on his way back from Singapore. First charged with robbery and attempted coup by a military court, he is currently detained in Kondengui prison in the capital city Yaounde. Internet Without Borders is launching a campaign to appeal for donations and lobbying for his release.

For Internet Without Borders, Enoh Meyomesse is a political prisoner: this man of letters, who attempted to run for the presidential election on October 9, 2011, could now be jailed for dissenting opinions he has continued to defend in several essays and articles. After an expedited judicial process before a special court, concern remains about its real opportunity to defend himself and prove his innocence.
Internet Without Borders is deeply concerned about the potential for the Cameroonian power to blame citizens for their opinions. If it appears that it has become dangerous to issue a dissenting opinion, Cameroon could be associated with these states reported regularly for the attacks they perpetrate against freedom of expression and opinion. Internet Without Borders continues to believe that Cameroon is a Rule of Law and it will not fail to work for the release of a writer whose views are necessary for the existence of a democracy.

The call for donations of € 10,000 that we have launched has a dual purpose: allow Enoh Meyomesse to defend his innocence with the help of renowned international lawyers, and, pending a favorable outcome, help him cover part of his daily needs in prison.
